Music Around Town

One of the changes that music.passion.hope had made is that we are doing more representation of musicians around town. Having worked with a number of reputable venues we are finding the demand for more gigs, more musicians, and more fun in getting your time playing on a stage. Sometimes your audience is ten, sometimes 50, or even in the hundreds. The reality is that musicians need a place to work out their songs, work out their set and music around town continues to offer that. We work directly with musicians both just starting out, and those who have been on the scene for a while.

Another way we have changed is that we no longer partner with mission organizations. In the past music.passion.hope was hired to put on the entire event. We now provide a mission with a musician, but we are no longer putting on the events for the mission. It's easy, their mission has an agenda and our musicians come alongside and become part of their agenda. All of our events/gigs are music related which is what we do best.

music.passion.hope Comes alongside the musician and teaches how to get into the circuit of making music around town. It's what we love, our musicians love, and what we do best. Allowing the musician to sell CD's, get a little extra cash, and most importantly getting their music out into the community.

Hello Everyone,
I am working with a small church in SW Portland who is looking to host and feature a new musical artist the 1st Sunday Evening of each month beginning December 5th.

Musician will play a set from 5:30-6pm.
Musician will then lead worship starting approx 6:05 (2-3 songs)
Musician will then close with worship.
Musician will have a table to sell CD's and promote future events.

Church has a small sound system, piano and couple of mic's so you may need to bring your own set up, which the church could be opened earlier to meet your needs.

This is a non-paid opportuntiy to serve SW Family Worship Center in SW Portland. The church will help get the word out of guests that are featured.

For those of you who have tried to email me in the past three weeks, my email has been on the fritz. We are in the process of making our web-site live, but as a result the email had to have some changes made which bounced back emails for over two weeks. KIDS2CAMP

We are just a few days out on our next concert. Do you think they will notice that three truffles are missing. I have finished up preparing the trays of chocolate truffles and my dining room is filled with the smells of rich fine chocolate. I am meeting with the team this evening to have a time of food, prayer, and listening to the music of Jake Ousley, who has come into town from Nashville to play at this event on April 23rd.

I am going to be speaking at this event and only have a small portion of nerves to settle. It's always kind of a scary thing when you open up, expose your heart, and share what a difference an organization such as Young Life has made on a life, my life. I have been thinking and praying over what to share for weeks now, so I am confident in God's leading of my heart.

We have a great line up of musicians too. Check out the flyer to see who will be singing and visit their websites in support of their ministry and music.

I have a meeting with a new mission on Monday and find that it's always interesting the timing of God and knowing the shape of music.passion.hope. What we can handle and provide to the missions we serve. As one concert finishes up another one is added. Thanks God for your provisions always.

Our blog would have been launched this week, but my web ( Aaron over at www.teamgreen.com) entrusted me to make the changes. The only thing is I pressed a few to many wrong keys and deleted the "event" part twice now. He will fix it for me, but it does get a little embarrassing. Hopefully that will be public by weeks end.

Thanks for the many people who work hard to make these events happen Camas/Washougal Young Life likes to work and for that we have a number of wonderful volunteers. Thanks so much for being so much fun to work with. The area director Erin Conner goes out of her way with all the kids involved in Young Life and her heart for these kids is amazing. Hats off to April 23rd. May our Lord Jesus be honored. May donations be plenty, and most important may many kids get to attend camp this summer.

April 23 YL Benefit Concert

I met with the Young Life Camas/Washougal committee and their area director last night for a time of prayer. We have a concert coming up on April 23rd and prayer, above all the other preparations, is the most important. Petitioning God for our desires, coming to Him, and for Him to see people gathering around a kitchen table is the most important part of getting ready for a benefit concert.

I looked over the list of requests typed on 2-3 pages and realize the needs are great, but to God they are just a days work of orchestration. I was blessed over the prayers of others. Hearing their hearts offer up to God glory & praise. Hearing the requests and knowing that already he has answered some of those requests.

If you have a major project that you are working on do you pray? Do you assemble those involved in the project and commit it to prayer? Prayer truly does change things.

I am so blessed to come along an organization that understands the importance of prayer and they are truly praying people. Thanks Camas/Washougal Young Life. I am so excited to see what God has in store on April 23rd. With a prayer team like you guys God is going to do some amazing things for your area.

Last Wednesday was a benefit concert for J.Z.E.I. We were blessed to be able to use the lovely and old First Baptist church downtown. It was a wonderful evening. It was very cozy and intimate. It was not just the venue it was the musicians. Musicians who love Jesus and are passionate about Him sing with such a deep delivery of Him through their music. I want to thank everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this a wonderful evening for Jose Zayas. I want to thank the musicians who work long hours to put together a flawless program.

A Benefit Concert is not just an event to pour money into baskets. It is about getting to know the heart beat of a mission. Learning what makes this organization work and seeing how God is stirring the hearts of those who come to give, to serve, and to something more. That something more can look different for each person. My something more is to put myself out there with benefit concerts. Making a venue available, finding gifted musicians, and working to introduce and remind people about what God is needing all over the world. He needs so many different people with various skills. He needs those blessed financially to give. Those blessed with time to serve on mission trips, and those who have extra time one evening to work with making a concert happen.

Hope for Uganda

Tonight is our next concert. I have had amazing peace over the entire planning of this event. Kathleen and I met two weeks ago. We typically meet two weeks before a big event and go over every detail line by line. With this event we looked at each other and laughed. We both felt that this was just so easy. Have we missed something?

If we have missed anything, we will be the only ones who know on the night of an event. We over prepare, and neither of us want to be caught off-guard, but there are always going to be the unknowns. So on concert days we can just trust that we have worked hard and the process will be God Honored in all we say and do.

Jose Zayas and his ministry have an extra special place in my heart. In the fall of 2009 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Going through the events of doctors and planning treatment God lead me to first be prayed over by the leaders of my church. Jose happen to be in town speaking at our church. Everyone met in our pastor's office after church to pray healing over me. Jose popped his head into the office and asked if he could join in. I was healed that day. So everyone in that room who prayed over me has a special place in my heart. It was the prayers of God's people who came together with the hope of healing.

When I look at the title of this event "Hope for Uganda" I believe God is going to show up. We have a hope in an amazing God and we must come to Him for our needs. Jose Zayas has an amazing ministry in Uganda. He works with churches and government leaders, he leads people from the U.S. into the most remote parts of the world to serve, and he raises up the hearts of those who have so little to bring their hearts to Jesus, and builds that Hope not just in their hearts, but in the way he serves and allows those on missions trips to serve.

Tonight at 6:30pm the doors open for "Hope for Uganda". Located at the old Baptist Church downtown on the corner of 12th & Taylor. Come and listen to the hearts of musicians who see the needs and are serving by using their gifts of music. Listen to Jose share of his ministry and wont' you consider giving a dollar amount to bring HOPE to the people of Uganda or consider signing up to serve on one of the many mission trips Jose Zayas leads.

It is our passion to come along and work to put together an evening of entertainment through music. We want to help educate your supporters with passion. We want to help bring hope to the people in need that your mission works with everyday.

Each year your organization will sit down and begin to plan your next fund raising event. Each year the budget is reviewed, the venue decided, and the guest list planned. The passion is presented for the mission and the organization, and the hope for a terrific turn out, along with growing the awareness of your mission and deepening the financial gifts from your guests.
